Nate Jones
Nate Jones, among many things, is an independent, singer-songwriter with a focus in easy-listening and folk music. Born and raised in the midwest; seasonal change, urban and rural living, lost loved ones and new love of many sorts, have inspired Jones’ “Genuine craft music, Made in Michigan” sound. These personal experiences have been reformed into social allegory and poetic storytelling. Jones’ debut project “Testing the Waters” is an acoustic folk themed EP comprised of each element of his songwriting and composition that will challenge you to think critically about who you are and where you want to be.
Jones attributes his sound to those musicians who have come before him, whether in the influence of Glenn Miller Band, Dean Martin, Johnny Cash, John Denver, 90s and 2000s pop/rock, or the thousands of artists that have hummed in our ears. He takes the sounds of the past and present to create something new and pleasing to the ear, something original, and music that you will want to listen to over and over again.
Apart from his singer/songwriter project, Jones is a part of the acoustic duo Athens Creek as a vocalist and guitarist (bandmate: Taylor Walls-Haring). He also started the weekly open mic in Trenton, Mi at TV's Grand Event where musicians from southeast Michigan come to build their individual talents as well as network with local musicians. His involvement in community charity events like Relay for Life, MiLife Suicide Prevention and Mental Health Awareness, Support the Troops, and local church outreaches does not go unnoticed.
Nate Jones has performed over two-thousand events in backyards, basements, sandwich and coffee shops, bars, restaurants, stage venues and festivals. He delivers a great sound in each performance from soft and mellow to punchy and poignant. Whether he is performing solo or with a full band, expect a great show, full of fun, witty banter, and exceptionally performed music.
